On Saturday, China’s Ministry of Commerce strongly criticized the U.S. Department of Commerce’s revocation of “validated end-user” (VEU) authorizations for Intel Semiconductor (Dalian), Samsung China Semiconductor, and SK Hynix Semiconductor (China). The U.S. announced the removal on Friday.
VEU status exempts exporters from needing individual licenses for shipping certain high-tech civilian goods to approved entities.
China’s Ministry accused the U.S. of politicizing export controls, stating the move was “motivated by political interests” and aimed at containing China’s semiconductor advancement. The ministry further warned that the U.S. is “deliberately destabilizing global semiconductor supply chains.”
