Lucent

Lucent Technologies was a prominent American semiconductor manufacturer and telecommunications equipment company, established in 1996 as a spin-off from AT&T's systems and technology division. It quickly became a key player in the optical networking and communications chip sectors, renowned for its innovations in fiber-optic components and integrated circuits for telecommunications infrastructure. The company's semiconductor division, later known as Agere Systems, was spun off in 2002 and specialized in producing high-performance chips for data storage, wireless networks, and optoelectronics. Lucent's technologies were foundational in advancing global communication networks during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The company merged with Alcatel in 2006 to form Alcatel-Lucent, which was later acquired by Nokia.
